Gomoku: Five Stones in a Row is a logical board game designed for two participants. On a square grid measuring 19×19 (in the classic version) or 15×15 (in the contemporary sports variant) points, players take turns placing stones of two different hues. The victor is the player who first aligns a continuous sequence of five stones of their hue either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. There are numerous variations, each differing in specific aspects of the rules. The game is thought to have originated in China over two millennia ago. Today, it is recognized worldwide, with competitive events organized around it.
